Hands of gold

I simply adore this song! I adore the lyrics, the way the producers put it in the show in that peaceful, innocent little scene that give us some hope, the real story of Tyrion and Shae behind it, and I also adore the cover by Peter Hollens. Enjoy!

Lyrics:

He rode through the streets of the city,

Down from his hill on high.

O’er the wynds and the steps and the cobbles,

He rode to a woman’s sigh.

For she was his secret treasure,

She was his shame and his bliss.

And a chain and a keep are nothing,

Compared to a woman’s kiss.

For hands of gold are always cold,

But a woman’s hands are warm!

For hands of gold are always cold,

But a woman’s hands are warm!

A character I used to know-Game of thrones season 1 parody

Remember good old days when 1 dead par episode seemed a hard affair and we were all so socked by the deaths of Robert Baratheon, Ned Stark and khal Drogo? Well, that was a time when GOT was actully a light tv show, compared to what happens now. Here I found on YouTube a parody for the deaths of season 1 based on the famous song „Somebody that I used to know”. Very funny and weel done. Enjoy!

Lyrics:

Now and then I think back to 2011
Back in season one when all the characters were alive
Told myself that it was just tv
But didn’t know it meant so much to me
And though it’s fiction it’s an ache I still remember

You can get addicted to a certain hbo show
Chock-full of violence and boobs, so many boobs
Characters started dying off like flies
That’s when I was forced to realize
That this show would ruin my whole life forever

But you didn’t have to kill them off
George R. R. Martin why are you such a sadistic bastard?
I went through a whole tissue box
And my friends who read the book say that there’s worse to come
Though you didn’t have to kill the king
Leaving the kingdom and it’s subjects in the hands of Joffrey
I know that he was drunk and all
But now he’s just a character I used to know
Now he’s just a character I used to know
Now he’s just a character I used to know

I thought the main character was Ned Stark since he’s on the poster
That had me believing that you wouldn’t dare to kill him too
But then you put my dreams in check
When you put a sword through Ned Stark’s neck
Wasn’t ready to let him go
And I didn’t know he’d end up as a character I used to know

Then you go after Khal Drogo
God damn it Martin I finally starting to ship them
Come on he was her sun and stars
He got a god damn paper cut are you for real?
And then you brought him back to life
Killing him once was enough for you think of the fan girls!
I should have been prepared by now
For him to be a character I used to know!

(King Robert) I used to know
(Ned Stark) Now you’re just a character I used to know
(Khal Drogo) I used to know
Now they’re all just characters I used to know
Now they’re all just characters I used to know

A moment of silence-Stark revenge song

OMG! This is so Stark! The music is epic and, God, those lyrics…Tells all the story of the Stark family. How the remaining one are thirsty for vengeance, now when “the darkest night” is coming, the time for wolves, they feel their power in themselves as Sansa, Arya and Bran do, and will “fight for the truth” that they aren`t loosers, they weren`t traitors and their rightful place is on the throne of Winterfell. They were tormented “cause power`s at steak” and all their enemies were “laughing at us as we fade”. The best way to describe the game of thrones is by calling it a “wicked game” as it was the name of the song that was the soundtrack for GOT` season 6 trailer. Indeed in Westeros, as the generations pass, “watching the days go by nothing changed, nothing new” As you can see the coincidences are uncountable. And the music is in my opinion the best from this year`s Eurovision. And one of the bests in its entire history.

                                                                  Lyrics:

We stand on the edge, they want us to break
They want us to fall, ‘cause power’s at stake
They parade, laughing at us as we fade

With blood on their hands, enjoying the feast,
The cross on the wall, the eyes of the beast
They parade, laughing at us as we fade

And I just can’t take anymore
This hate is burning my soul

In the darkest nights feel the power in you
Take a moment of silence and fight for the truth
Fight for the truth!

I’ve seen them all come and go,
They’re to blame
Empty words, wicked game
Cause for all of their lies we pay with our lives

In the darkest nights feel the power in you
Take a moment of silence and fight for the truth
Watching the days go by nothing changed, nothing new
Take a moment of silence and fight for the truth

Fight, gonna win the fight
Believe, gonna win the fight
Got to win the fight,
Ooooh, oooh!

In the darkest nights feel the power in you
Take a moment of silence and fight for the truth
Watching the days go by nothing changed, nothing new
Take a moment of silence and fight for the truth
Fight for the truth!

Game of thrones piano theme

I recently discovered two extraordinary piano covers of the Game of thrones music theme and I want to share them with you.

The fist one is covered only by piano, has a an amazing video with dragons, and sea, and costumes and everything, and is extremely hard to play. The man is an unwordly talent.

The second doesn` have such a great cast and video but it`s definetely worth it. The piano is followed by other instruments and it`s giving you the feeling of ballet.

When winter comes-Winter is coming song

A genius song composed, performed and produced by Gavin Dunne (Miracle of sound) that I found on You tube, a song inspired by Game of thrones. It`s about winter and what happens when winter comes, it really makes you feel the cold wind in your bones, you can actually smell the snow and taste the icy mist. It has an incredible video, an incredible orchestration, incredible lyrics and an incredible male voice (which sounds exactly as it should be: low, powerful and dark). Oh, that violin and that piano! This song is epic!

Lyrics:

When winter comes,
When life is frozen,
When the moors they hide away under the snow,
Fingers of doom
Will clutch the chosen.
All beasts will shiver, from the lion to the crow.

When winter comes,
When times are starkest,
When the wailing of the wolves fades with the sun,
The wilds are numb,
The days are darkest,
The fates of many cease to rest on only one.

Walls will not hold the winter,
Over and under crawl,
Walls will not hold the winter,
All in the way will fall.

When winter comes,
When thrones are idol,
When the brave they cower under eyes of blue,
The rising roar,
The endless cycle,
Turns the darkest myths of yesterday to truth.

Walls will not hold the winter,
Over and under crawl,
Walls will not hold the winter,
All in the way will fall.

The bear and the maiden fair

I like this pretty, joyful song very much. Here is another version by Karliene, which I like as well, sounding like a song singed at a party in an inn by some funny girls. It really gives you good disposition.

Lyrics:

A bear there was
a bear, a bear
all black and brown
and covered with hair
Oh come they said
oh come to the fair
the fair? said he
but I’m a bear
all black and brown
and covered in hair!
And down the road
from here to there
from here, to there
three boys, a goat
and a dancing bear
they danced and spun
all the way to the fair!
Oh, sweet she was
and pure and fair
the maid with honey
in her hair, her hair
the maid with honey
in her hair
The bear smelled the scent
on the summer air
the bear, the bear
all black and brown
and covered with hair
he smelled the scent
on the summer air
he sniffed and roared
and smelled it there
honey on the summer air
Oh I’m a maid
and I’m pure and fair
I’ll never dance
with a hairy bear
a bear, a bear
I’ll never dance
with a hairy bear
The bear, the bear
lifted her high
into the air
the bear, the bear
I called for a knight
but you’re a bear
a bear, a bear
all black and brown
and covered in hair
She kicked and wailed
the maid so fair
but he licked the honey
from her hair
her hair, her hair
he licked the honey
from her hair
Then she sighed and squealed
and kicked the air
she sang: my bear so fair
and off they went
the bear, the bear
and the maiden fair.

The dornishman`s wife

The dornishman`s wife, another famous ballad in Westeros, with lyrics by George R. R. Martin, as all the others. A song about lust, and sin, and death, about beauty and cruelty. The think I like more about this is that death it`s regarded with much serenity, abolishing its almighty power with a smile, a laugh and some very true and simple words, which are like a hallowed motto from the people in that world : „All men must die”, or in the original High valyrian tongue : „Valar morghulis”, a motto which is probably the apex of the valyrian civilization. But I thought that the original version, no matter how much I like it (being by all means a classic medieval ballad, for which fact I have nothing but respect), is not so dark, sinister and lustful as it should be considering the subject. So, here it is-the perfect Dornishman`s wife version by Karliene. Pity she didn`t make a real video of it.

Lyrics:

The Dornishman’s wife was as fair as the sun,
and her kisses were warmer than spring.
But the Dornishman’s blade was made of black steel,
and its kiss was a terrible thing.
The Dornishman’s wife would sing as she bathed,
in a voice that was sweet as a peach,
But the Dornishman’s blade had a song of its own,
and a bite sharp and cold as a leech.
As he lay on the ground with the darkness around,
and the taste of his blood on his tongue,
His brothers knelt by him and prayed him a prayer,
and he smiled and he laughed and he sung,
„Brothers, oh brothers, my days here are done,
the Dornishman’s taken my life,
But what does it matter, for all men must die,
and I’ve tasted the Dornishman’s wife!”

The rains of Castemere

Are you guys madly in love with this song (the vocal version and the instrumental as well), cause I am? I think it`s the best medieval ballad I`ve ever heard in my life. The music, the lyrics, everything. And even if it`s a Lannister song, created to inspire fear to Lannister`s enemies, I think in a subtle way it`s against theme. I mean pay attention to the first stanza where it`s says:”And who are you,…, that I must bow so low” which represents a protest very justified addressed to Tywin`s tirany and:”In a coat of gold or a coat of red a lion still has claws.”which is again a strong argument of the lord Reyne`s revolt. I like to think that the minstrel who invented this was not pleased with the Lannister in reality, and being terrified and disgusted with their actions, with their cruel treatment to the Reynes, and being very clever as well, he creep in the lyrics some of his secret reproaches. In any case, as I have some reproaches to make to HBO as well considering the voice in this song, which I found to bass and hoarseness, I posted here another interpretation of The rains of Castemere by Karliene. Hope you will enjoy it, and I am very sorry I couldn`t find a version sang on the original music line, I like it as much as this one.

                                                                  Lyrics:

And who are you, the proud lord said,
that I must bow so low?
Only a cat of a different coat,
that’s all the truth I know.
In a coat of gold or a coat of red,
a lion still has claws,
And mine are long and sharp, my lord,
as long and sharp as yours.
And so he spoke, and so he spoke,
that lord of Castamere,
But now the rains weep o’er his hall,
with no one there to hear.
Yes now the rains weep o’er his hall,
and not a soul to hear.

Chaos is a ladder

I absolutely adore this speech, the most brilliant and true speech I have ever heard. And after that the pure, beautiful love of Jon and Ygritte, who succeeded in climbing without lies and dirty tricks. But listening it more than once I couldn`t not to remark the magnificent, dark, almost sinister music, which describe so well the shadeful character that Petyr Baelish is. So here is this music, appearing in most of his scenes.

And here the other magical melody-the Jon/Ygritte love theme. Emotional and heartbreaking, especially if you know the ending of this couple`s story.

Sansa`s hymn-The Mother song

Remember the song dedicated to the Mother Above that Sansa singed during the battle of Blackwater? Well, here is my favourite version of it in Karliene`s interpretation. A very sad and delicate one!

Lyrics:

Gentle Mother, font of mercy,
save our sons from war, we pray,
stay the swords and stay the arrows,
let them know a better day.
Gentle Mother, strength of women,
help our daughters through this fray,
soothe the wrath and tame the fury,
teach us all a kinder way.
