The Vale of Arryn

f85d7bd1de6ad3031610e78c30448b76I have absolutely no idea where is this picture taken from, but it`s absolutely fantastic, a true nature wonder! And it striked me from the first second I saw it the marvelous similarity to the Vale of Arryn. Those huge, snowy mountains surrounding a vale seems to me just like the perfect view to be contemplated from one of the windows of Eyrie in summer.

Marella Agnelli villa as Water gardens

Marella Agnelli villa (Marrakech, Morocco)

Marella Agnelli villa (Marrakech, Morocco)

This is how I imagine the garden of Water gardens looking like. Exotic, peaceful, refreshing, with a lot of water and plants, and that amazing pavilion where the lords and ladies of house Martell can relax enjoying its shadow. A real private retreat for the tired lords of Dorne. The Marella Agnelli villa is amazing!

Winterfell vs Pierrefonds

Pierrefonds castle (Pierrefonds, France)

Pierrefonds castle (Pierrefonds, France)

It would have been much more majestic if they would have filmed Pierrefonds castle as Winterfell, but we know Winterfell was built in ancient times so, from this point of view, it would not have been very suitable, especially it isn`t that wild as it`s supposed to. But Pierrefonds could be a fantastic Winterfell at winter, with its huge and solid walls and towers, who can maintain worm in all the seasons, with his roofs covered in snow, and those sophisticated gargoyles of which Bran used to clench. And forest all around.

Al-Aqsa mosque as Hall of a thousand thrones

Al-Aqsa mosque (Jerusalem, Israel)

Al-Aqsa mosque (Jerusalem, Israel)

I associate this mosque to Qarth because of its luxurious exoticism and all those colors on it and the golden roof. It`s a huge building, so you can easy imagine a thousand thrones inside and even easier their opulence. And you can go on picturing the whole city in this way. It`s a shame that HBO consider to make Qarth such a poor place, comparing to the real one.

The Twins vs Bodiam

The Twins (Ted Nasmith)

Bodiam castle (East Sussex, UK)

Bodiam castle (East Sussex, UK)

Classic medieval castle, built on a river, with a huge bridge that goes to it, symmetric form. Nothing could be more undistinguished than this castle with the Twins. It would have been nice if they would duplicate the castle and filmed there the Twins scenes.

Hightower vs lighthouse

Lighthouse on the sea

I could not find the location of this amazing lighthouse, but Hightower must surely be something like it, only more big, probably, and circled by different buildings. Just imagine how fantastic must be there in the time of storm, in a frighteningly, majestically way.

The ruins of Palmyra as the ruins of Valyria

Palmyra (Tadmur, Syria)

Palmyra (Tadmur, Syria)

When they will film the ruins of Valyria I hope this will be the location they will choose, or something similar. It has to look like a great ruined civilization, who maintains until today the badges of its grandeur. Staying there in silence to remember you about the wordliness and doom of every reach and glory, a museum of death. Ancient castles, and walls, and huge stone palings, all in a red, peculiar, frightening light, like a sunset fire. „The sky is always red above Valyria.” Moqorro said. Just as this:

Beautiful, but destroyed.

Riverrun vs Chenonceau

I could not not to relate those two. The same air of medieval castle, the same architectural style, the same blue roofs, and above them all the way it is build in the water. River, river, everywhere. Incredible!
